Treasure the Thresher

This summer is been celebration of the big fish. Many sharks rounding in Sachiko’s and other sites, only this week I have seen massive eagle rays many times. And of course turtles, our huge turtles around Lekuans and almost everywhere you go.

But this summer has been special because many divers and dive guides have been reporting me about thresher shark in Sachiko’s point and in the Sulawesi mainland. I haven’t been so far so lucky but I’m keeping my eyes definitely open.

And I can’t miss it if it comes to my underwater path. The long tail of thresher shark is unique so I cannot really mix it up with other sharks. But so far there’s no pictures, no proof of thresher! In this month Celebrate the Sea Festival 2011 is throwing a underwater photo shoot competition in Bunaken National Marine Park. Maybe one of the photographers will capture thresher to “film”.

The video abowe is not from here, but I hope we will have soon similar!

Do you want to be part of the photo shoot competition? Look for more details in Celebrate The Sea webpage http://celebratethesea.com
